About the role
Responsible for the execution of Bushveld Minerals’s technical marketing and sales plans and the achievement of revenue targets. Accountable for after sales technical support and customer management; understanding of the products, customer site visits and promoting technical superiority of Bushveld products is important. Oversees end to end sales and marketing value chain operationally and is the operational custodian of customer relationships. Conduit between the customer and operations.
Key responsibilities
Marketing/Sales
- Market development
- Create and nurture a diverse market
- Secure frame contracts and see that these are delivered against
- Keep appraised of market dynamics
- Monitor international press / publications for relevant market intelligence
- Access price data from subscription sites (Metal Bulletin / Ryan’s Notes / Asian Metals)
- Attend international trade symposia / conferences for networking and market intelligence
- Understand customer needs and find ways to address same through Bushveld’s product range
- Represent the Company on sales and marketing related matters externally i.e.
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant industry bodies and trade organisations
- Maximise revenue by selling to the highest value markets
- Responsible for optimum product mix
- Manage enquiries for products offered by Bushveld Vametco and coordinate with production teams on technical support where required
- Manage and enforce Bushveld’s Rights of First Refusal Agreements for vanadium supply
- Be well versed on contract structuring, pricing, payment terms, technical compliance, and delivery schedule
- Oversee or manage the processing of orders placed i.e.
- Receive Purchase Order (PO) and check PO for correctness in relation to negotiated terms
- Place Works Order (WO) on production giving the necessary details
- Monitoring of production against order and distribution plan
- After sales support and account management
- Reschedule production sequence if necessary
- Update customer on despatch plan if necessary
Logistics
- Schedule and manage despatch export work i.e. agree on despatch dates with production / management, manage despatch log
- Oversee and manage despatch logistics
- Book road transport with contractor against the despatch plan
- Liaise with contractor on any changes to the plan
- Receive and distribute vehicle details for security clearance with works
- Despatch documentation
- Receive Load Advice / Weighbridge Waybill / Final Mass Ticket / CoA / CoW from works
- Prepare Packing List
- Ensure packing, repacking, and packaging are accurate
- Customer liaison – logistics
- Liaise with customer on material readiness dates and shipping plan
- Agree on shipping plan with customer
- Shipping
- Liaise with shipping line / vessel agent on prospective shipping opportunities
- Agree on suitable vessel
- Place booking request with shipping line / vessel agent
- Complete hazardous goods declaration and / or USA compliance where applicable
- Manage shipping and vessel logs
- Receive and verify vessel booking confirmation
- Manage end to end forwarding and clearing process
- Verify payment by customer e.g. receive copy SWIFT or bank PoP and send to Finance Department etc
- Submit service provider invoices for payment
- Receive and submit invoices for road transport / forwarding and clearing
- Update road transport and forwarding and clearing log
- Oversight management of warehouses
About you
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy.
- Marketing degree advantageous
- 15 years industry experience with at least 5 years technical sales and marketing experience
- Steel making expertise and experience (V205 bearing steel)
- Expert knowledge of vanadium products and their application.
- Proven commercial acuity and ability to close deals
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
